There are 4 basic phases in the process of becoming a career missionary:
1) Preliminary Information and Qualifications Phase 2) Network Application and Approval Phase 3) Assemblies of God World Missions Application and Approval Phase 4) Candidate Orientation and Itineration Phase
The process starting with the application to missions at the Network level and proceeding to final AGWM approval can be between 6 – 12 months. Upon final approval, a candidate must spend the first year in itineration raising their base funds to go to the field. This total length of time is not to deter you in anyway but as I always say, “these are the necessary steps in order to best prepare an individual to cope for a lifetime on the foreign field!”
We also recognize that not everyone is called to a life time of service in missions but may have an authentic desire to use their gifts for shorter tenures from a couple of months to a couple of years. The Assemblies of God World Missions has developed an outstanding Short Term Minister Abroad and Missionary Associate program to facilitate this type of missions experience.
